The answer

If a Muslim commits a sin, he must hasten to seek forgiveness and repent to Allah Almighty, to be among those who remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins after committing indecency or wronging themselves, and who do not persist in what they have done. Then Allah will reward them with forgiveness and Gardens. Repentance is accepted with its conditions, and among its signs is that the repentant person is in a better state afterward, inclining towards acts of obedience and shunning forbidden things. Sins cause darkness in the heart, anxiety, and depression, and heaviness of the body may be an effect of sins, whereas repentance brings inner peace, lightness of the body, and freedom from anxiety.
