Is it permissible to eat the opossum?

If "Darboun" (a spiny animal resembling a large hedgehog) is intended, then it is permissible to eat because it is neither predatory nor vile. However, if "Zarban" (a malodorous animal) is intended, then it is forbidden because it is considered among the vile things that the Arabs deemed vile, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "And He makes lawful for them the good things and makes unlawful for them the evil things."
