What should I do to deal with the temptation of women, and is it permissible to speak with the one I intend to propose to about matters of religion and advice, knowing that I cannot propose to her for another year?

A man's calling a non-mahram woman without need is impermissible, due to the temptation (fitna) that may result from it. If he is unable to marry, he must be patient and chaste. What helps him in this regard are: frequent fasting, lowering the gaze, avoiding provocations, occupying his time with beneficial things, and making du'a (supplication).
