What is the ruling on the pimp?

A pimp is one who mediates between a man and a woman for immorality, and this is a forbidden act and one of the gravest major sins, for Allah the Almighty says: "And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an indecency and an evil way." The pimp facilitates the means for adultery and causes people to fall into it, and he is included in Allah's threat against those who love to spread immorality: "Indeed, those who like that immorality should be spread among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter." This act entails other sins such as pointing to evil, cooperating in sin, and earning illicit gains.
