Do children inherit from their father who did not pray or fast, drank alcohol, and was audacious towards God and His Messenger? And is it incumbent upon them to make up for the prayers and fasts he missed to alleviate his burden, knowing that he showed signs of remorse before his death?

Whoever abandons prayer commits an act of disbelief (kufr). If he dies while having abandoned it, he dies as a disbeliever, outside the fold of Islam. It is not permissible to supplicate for his forgiveness and mercy, nor is it permissible for his Muslim relatives to inherit from him, due to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "(A Muslim does not inherit from a disbeliever, nor does a disbeliever inherit from a Muslim)." He should not be washed, shrouded, prayed over, or buried in Muslim graveyards. Rather, he should be carried outside the town and buried in a pit.
