Why is Imam Abu Hanifa considered weak in Hadith despite his imamate in Fiqh and his reliance on the narrations of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, unlike Imam Hafs, who is said to have abandoned Hadith due to his preoccupation with the Qur'an?

Imam Abu Hanifa is a great jurist whose stature is not diminished by his weak memory and precision in narrating Hadith. This is not surprising given his preoccupation with Fiqh (jurisprudence) and rational deduction. Some Hadith Imams, such as Al-Bukhari, Muslim, and Al-Nasa'i, indeed deemed him weak from the perspective of his memory, but this does not affect his piety, devoutness, or jurisprudence. Many jurists, judges, and righteous individuals have been criticized by Hadith Imams regarding their memory and precision without it being considered an impugnment of their faith. Righteousness and jurisprudence differ from memorizing and accurately narrating Hadith; each has its own proponents. What Allah bestowed upon him in terms of knowledge and profound understanding is sufficient, so much so that Al-Shafi'i said: "People are dependents upon Abu Hanifa in Fiqh." As for suitable books for studying the Hanafi Madhhab, they include: "Madkhal li Dirasat al-Madhhab al-Hanafi" (An Introduction to the Study of the Hanafi Madhhab) by Ali Othman Jaradi, and "Al-Madkhal al-Mufassal ila al-Fiqh al-Hanafi" (The Detailed Introduction to Hanafi Fiqh) by Dr. Salah Abu Al-Haj.
