What must a wife do who stopped praying, thinking that a pregnant woman does not pray, from her first pregnancy until her last? Does she have to make up all the missed prayers, and how? Is there an expiation for her? What are the consequences for her if she knew prayer was obligatory but abandoned it out of negligence or evasion?

A pregnant woman is obligated to pray, while it is waived for menstruating and postpartum women. The wife must repent for her negligence in learning, but she is not required to make up missed prayers, according to the soundest opinions of the scholars, due to the general forgiveness for error and forgetfulness, and Allah's saying: "And We would not punish until We send a messenger." Postpartum bleeding (nifas) is the blood that comes out with childbirth, or two or three days before it with a sign like labor pains. If the postpartum bleeding stops after childbirth for a period, then as soon as she becomes pure, she must purify herself and pray, and not wait for the full period to end. If no blood comes down, she should pray even if the cervix is dilated, and continue to do so until she gives birth.
