What is the way to deal with a wife who is ill-tempered, extremely jealous, does not respect her in-laws, and does not accept discussion, even though she fulfills her household duties and adheres to religious observances?

A wife is not obligated to visit her husband's family, and she is not considered disobedient (nashiz) if she does not. However, it is an act of noble character for each spouse to be good to the other's family. As for the wife harming her husband by raising her voice or similar actions, this is impermissible. It should be addressed first through admonition, then by deserting her in bed, and then by a non-violent beating. If the matter reaches a state of discord (shiqaq), then an arbiter from his family and an arbiter from her family should be sought. The husband is advised to be patient, treat her kindly, overlook her slips, and focus on the good aspects of her character, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good" and the hadith: "A believing man should not hate a believing woman. If he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another."
