What should a wife do with her husband who despises her, cannot tolerate her, and does not want to divorce her, living in isolation from her and demanding that she waive her rights, knowing that he has mistreated her since their first wedding night due to a dispute that occurred before marriage, and doubts her honor despite her attempts to please him, and her family refuses her waiver, and she now has a daughter from him, despite him being a sheikh who issues fatwas to people and maintains his acts of worship?
Allah has made it obligatory upon spouses to live together in kindness. A man should not abandon his wife unless she disobeys him and shows defiance (nushooz). And abandonment (hajr) should be in the conjugal bed after admonition, as stated in the Almighty's saying: "As for those [wives] from whom you fear defiance, admonish them, and abandon them in their beds, and strike them." A woman must fulfill any shortcomings in her duties towards her husband. It is not permissible for a husband to accuse his wife of immorality based solely on suspicion, otherwise he would incur the punishment mentioned in the Almighty's saying: "And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses - lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept their testimony ever after. And those are the defiantly disobedient."
