How can one maintain their devoutness and connection with Allah in their home after marriage and childbirth, especially if devoutness only comes with solitude, and what is the proposed solution to provide for this spiritual retreat?
The night vigil prayer (Qiyam al-Layl) holds great merit, especially during the pre-dawn hours (Sahar) and when people are at rest, due to its virtues mentioned in the Sunnah. It was obligatory at the beginning of Islam, then it was lightened and became a voluntary act of worship and a means of drawing closer to Allah. It is recommended to perform it during the pre-dawn hours or when people are at rest; otherwise, it can be performed in the presence of family members so that they may learn and find comfort in it. There is no need to send the wife to the mosque for Qiyam al-Layl, as Islamic law has exempted women from the obligation of congregational prayer in the mosque. If someone must go out, it should be the husband. The wife should be encouraged to perform night prayers and remembrance of Allah in a friendly manner. One should persevere in obedience and not abandon it under the pretext of concealing it or sending family members away from it, for the righteous predecessors used to do so in the presence of their families. Sincerity (Ikhlas) means that Allah protects you from showing off (Riya') and polytheism (Shirk).
