How are the mat and the ground on which it is washed purified? Is it sufficient to wash them together, or must the ground be washed then dried, then the mat washed then dried, then the ground washed again? Do all incorporeal impurities that dry not transfer, and similarly, what about a garment if it becomes impure then dries?

The impure mat is purified by pouring water on the spot of impurity until the water becomes unchanged. The earth beneath the mat becomes pure if pure water reaches it.
The drying of an impurity does not purify it. If an impurity stains a garment and then dries, it is called a "Hukmi" (constructive or legal) impurity.
