Is the religion of Islam considered created, and is the authentic Prophetic Sunnah considered created?
If by "religion" what is meant is Allah's command and prohibition, then it is not created, because the speech of Allah is uncreated. However, if what is meant by it is the act of religious devotion, then it is among the actions of creation, and these are created. Likewise, if by the Prophetic Sunnah what is meant is revelation, then it is not created. But its emanation from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is among the actions of creation, and these are created. Allah Almighty said: (So direct your face toward the religion, inclining to truth. [Adhere to] the fitrah of Allah upon which He has created [all] people. No change should there be in the creation of Allah. That is the correct religion). Ibn Hazm said: "This is clear proof that religion is created by Allah." It is necessary to differentiate between Shariah (the Law) and Qadar (Divine Decree), for both belong to Allah the Almighty.
