How can one get rid of laziness and weakness of resolve, especially concerning postponing duties and delaying prayer, and what is the remedy for the lack of continuity in striving against the self?
Delaying prayer until the last few minutes of its prescribed time is permissible as long as it is performed within that time. However, it is forbidden if one performs it during the time of necessity without an excuse, or if any part of it extends beyond the prescribed time. One of the greatest things that can help you overcome laziness in performing prayer at the beginning of its time is to consistently perform it in the mosque, and to be mindful of the immense reward you gain from praying in the mosque, such as the reward for each step taken to and from it, the reward for witnessing the congregational prayer, and the angels' supplication for forgiveness on your behalf. Indeed, a group of scholars has concluded that a man's prayer in the mosque with the congregation is obligatory, and he incurs sin by abandoning it without a valid excuse.
