What is the ruling regarding a wife who refuses her husband's call to his bed?

If a wife disobeys her husband and refuses his commands without a valid excuse, she is considered rebellious (nashiz). The Prophet, peace be upon him, clarified that the angels curse a wife whose husband is displeased with her due to her refusal to share his bed. Allah, the Almighty, has guided us in His Book to stages for reforming a rebellious wife: first, admonition; if that fails, then abandoning her in bed; and if that does not work, then a non-severe beating. A rebellious wife is not entitled to maintenance (nafaqah) or housing (sukna) until she returns to obedience.
