Abu al-A'la al-Mawdudi, the founder of the Jamaat-e-Islami in the Indian subcontinent, was born in 1903 CE and passed away in 1979 CE. He began his career as a journalist, authored the book "Jihad in Islam" in 1928 CE, and launched the magazine "Tarjuman al-Quran" in 1933 CE. He founded the Jamaat-e-Islami in 1941 CE in Lahore. He was arrested and sentenced to death, but the sentence was commuted. He resigned from the leadership of the Jamaat in 1972 CE to dedicate himself to writing. He passed away in 1979 CE. Mawdudi left behind a call, followers, and numerous writings advocating for Islam as a comprehensive system, liberating Muslims from tyrants, and transferring intellectual leadership to the believers.
