Is it permissible to give financially struggling family members a small amount of one's own money, given that there are disagreements between the husband and the family, and the husband has sworn by divorce not to give them anything, and he refuses to retract his oath?

It is permissible for a woman to donate from her own money without her husband's permission, and this is the view of the majority of scholars. Their evidence is that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not ask women for their husbands' permission regarding charity.

However, al-Nawawi said: "But she ought to inform him, out of good companionship, especially concerning large sums of money." If the wife is foolish and does not manage money well, her husband may prevent her from donating it.

As for a husband who divorces his wife if she gives money to her family, the majority of scholars believe that divorce occurs if she gives, whether the husband intended divorce or not. Some scholars, however, believe that divorce does not occur unless he intended it, otherwise he must pay an expiation for breaking an oath.
