What is the ruling on seeing worms, snails, or weevils in food, which causes revulsion, and is it forbidden to leave or discard the food because of them?

It has been previously stated that it is permissible to eat food containing worms generated from it if there is no harm, and the ruling on eating snails and other insects has been clarified. It is not permissible for a Muslim to consume food if its consumption results in harm, due to the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: “There should be no harm nor reciprocating harm,” and the author of Al-Maraqi’s saying: “The origin of everything harmful is prohibition.” If food spoils due to the appearance of the aforementioned things or others, and its harm is feared, then its consumption is forbidden for anyone for whom it has been proven to cause harm. In such a case, one should dispose of it by feeding it to a human or animal that will not be harmed by it, or by throwing it in the trash if it cannot be utilized.
