What was the profession of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, after the revelation?

The Prophet worked in trade and sheep herding before his prophethood. When he was sent as a Prophet, he dedicated himself to the call (Da'wah), and Allah enriched him with the wealth of Khadijah, who comforted him with her money when people deprived him. After the Hijra (emigration), Allah ordained Jihad, and spoils of war (Ghanāʾim) and

fay’ (booty obtained without fighting) were made permissible. He was legislated to take a known share from them, and thereby Allah compensated him for earning a livelihood.
