What is the legal evidence from the Quran or Sunnah for the obligation of fasting two consecutive months as expiation for sexual intercourse during the daytime in Ramadan, and why is it not permissible to fast without consecution?

The proof that the fasting must be consecutive in the expiation for sexual intercourse during Ramadan is what Al-Bukhari narrated from Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to the one who had intercourse with his wife in Ramadan: "Can you fast two consecutive months?" Al-Nawawi transmitted that the condition of consecution is the opinion of the majority of scholars, and the author of Al-Mughni transmitted a consensus on that.
