What should I do, for I have become weak and weary of my appearance, and my prayers have not been answered even though I seek forgiveness, but I do not pray?

Inner beauty is more important than outward beauty, for Allah looks at hearts, not at forms. One must pay attention to inner beauty, because good character is more important than a beautiful face. Abandoning prayer is a grave sin and dangerous for its perpetrator; indeed, it is considered disbelief by some scholars, and it is greater than adultery, theft, drinking alcohol, and taking a life. One must perform sincere repentance and increase in obligatory and supererogatory acts of worship, for Allah clothes the obedient servant with light and splendor. Indeed, a good deed is a light in the face and a radiance in the heart, while an evil deed is darkness in the face and blackness in the heart. One should associate with the righteous and occupy oneself with noble matters.
