What is the ruling on someone who entered into a state of ihram for umrah from the miqat, but was then unable to complete it due to a worldly reason and traveled to his home country, knowing that he did not originally intend umrah but was merely passing through?

The jurists have agreed on the obligation to complete Hajj and Umrah upon commencing them, based on the Almighty's saying: {And complete the Hajj and Umrah for Allah}. Therefore, you must complete the Umrah as long as you have entered into ihram from the miqat intending to perform it, unless you stipulated disengagement (tahallul) in case of an impediment and such an impediment occurred. However, if you did not stipulate this, then you must return to Mecca to complete the Umrah, and you must avoid the prohibitions of ihram. If you commit a prohibited act other than sexual intercourse, then you owe a fidyah (expiation). But if you had sexual intercourse with your wife, then your Umrah is invalidated, and you must complete it, then start another Umrah.
