The love for a worshipper from previous nations is commendable, so long as it does not lead to the belief in his superiority over the Companions. Being more affected by him than by the Companions, without preferring him, is not forbidden. This might be due to a lack of knowledge about the Companions, who had more miracles and answered prayers than Jurayj. Their stories can be found in biographical works. Jurayj was mistaken in prioritizing voluntary prayer over obedience to his mother. It would have been more appropriate for him to cut short his prayer or lighten it to answer her, because answering one's mother is obligatory, and disobeying her is forbidden.
