It is not a condition to wipe what hangs down from the hair beyond the head. Ablution is invalid: If the extensions or artificial hair cover the original hair on the head, or if they form a barrier that prevents water from reaching the original hair.

Ruling on hair extensions for men:

It is not permissible for a man to attach artificial hair to his head. This is forbidden for men just as it is forbidden for women, because it is an act of women and a form of adornment prohibited for men. Hair extensions have become a symbol of transgressors in this era, and they involve imitating them, which is impermissible even if it were originally permissible. It is not permissible to wipe over artificial hair, because the wiping must be on the head, and artificial hair is not part of the head.
