Is the method of understanding and memorizing the Qur’an through Sheikh Al-Sha’rawi’s explanations good, and what are the supplications that help in memorizing the Qur’an and remaining steadfast in obedience?

Preserving the Quran and understanding its meanings is a religious obligation, for Allah revealed the Quran to be recited, pondered upon, and acted upon, and this cannot be achieved without understanding its meanings. Ibn Abd al-Barr mentioned that the first stages of seeking knowledge are memorizing the Quran and comprehending it, and that whatever aids in understanding its meanings must be learned. The Companions used to learn the verses and their meanings, as Ibn Mas'ud said: "When one of us learned ten verses, he would not move past them until he understood their meanings and acted upon them." This emphasizes the importance of learning tafsir (exegesis) for contemplation, action, and da'wah (invitation to Islam). If a person's understanding is weak but memorization is easy for them, then they should memorize what they can, with the intention of studying tafsir. Among the beneficial supplications is the supplication of Dhun-Nun: "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers." No Muslim supplicates with it except that their prayer is answered.
