Is it permissible to name children "Laysa" (ليس) under the pretext that any word from the Qur’an that does not carry a bad meaning can be used as a name for a newborn?

A good name should be chosen, both in its wording and meaning. Naming with outwardly good names is forbidden if their use could lead to a bad meaning. Not every name mentioned in the Holy Quran is permissible for naming. Indeed, many names mentioned in the Quran are forbidden for a Muslim to name his children with. It was not known that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, nor his companions, nor the people of knowledge, favored naming simply because a name appeared in the Quran. Rather, their names revolved around "Abdullah" and "Abdul Rahman" and the like. People should be discouraged from this practice, and the father should adhere to the manners of naming children.
