What is the ruling on working in a usurious bank for a veiled woman who finds it difficult to obtain other employment and experiences family pressures that prevent her from leaving the job? And is it permissible for her to dispose of the money earned from it to spend on necessities, help her father with his debts, and give charity?

Patience in the face of tribulation and adherence to religion in times of corruption is the price of steadfastness upon truth. Blessed are the strangers who bring about reform when people become corrupt. You must hold on to your hijab and not succumb to pressure. Furthermore, it is not permissible to work in interest-based banks except out of dire necessity that prevents ruin or fulfills basic needs. If the choice is between working in an interest-based bank or in a mixed-gender environment that requires removing the hijab, then it is better to leave the interest-based bank, with patience and seeking reward from Allah, and search for another job that meets the Sharia requirements. The salary received from an interest-based bank, because it is in exchange for a prohibited benefit, should be taken only to the extent of need, and the remainder should be spent on the welfare of Muslims. It is permissible to pay your father's debts from it if he is in need. Obedience to Allah and adherence to His law brings goodness and blessings and opens the doors of provision. And whoever gives up something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better.
