Is there any sound proof or authentic trace that there was a prophet named Ezekiel?

There are narrations, most of them found among the scholars of tafsir (Quranic exegesis) and historical accounts, which may be from the Isra'iliyyat (narrations of Israelite origin), indicating that Ezekiel was a prophet to the Children of Israel after Moses. It is said that he revived thousands of dead people who had left their homes fearing death. Some also said that he is the prophet mentioned in Surat Al-Baqarah: "Or like the one who passed by a town." Al-Tabari mentioned that the verse: "Have you not considered those who left their homes in thousands, fearing death?" speaks of a people whom Allah caused to die as a punishment, and then brought them back to life. It was said that this was a miracle for their prophet Ezekiel, because they fled from jihad. Ibn Atiyyah commented that these stories have weak chains of narration, and what is established from the verse is Allah's informing His Prophet Muhammad about a people who left, fleeing from death, so Allah caused them to die and then brought them back to life, so that they might see that death is in Allah's hands, and for the verse to serve as an introduction to commanding the believers to engage in jihad.
