What are the signs of Allah Almighty's turning away from a servant?

A servant's obedience to Allah brings him goodness, happiness, and tranquility, as some of the Salaf said: "Indeed, we are in a state of happiness; if kings and sons of kings knew of it, they would fight us over it with swords." As for the disobedient, he exposes himself to a break with Allah, which cuts off from him the means of goodness and plunges him into desolation and tightness of the chest. His cure lies in resorting to Allah through supplication (Du'a) and reciting the Quran, which is a healing and a mercy, increasing remembrance [of Allah] (Dhikr), accompanying the righteous, and staying away from bad company.
