Is a girl considered to be mistaken or disobedient to her parents if she refuses to marry a suitor who possesses all good qualities, because she is still thinking of another person, which causes her psychological distress?
It is not permissible to force an adult, sane girl into marriage, due to its negative impact on the stability of marital life. It was narrated from Buraydah that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, gave a girl the choice when her father forced her into marriage. However, the parents' choice of a husband is often more suitable for the girl, given their experience and love for their daughter's welfare. Therefore, we advise accepting the parents' choice out of filial piety, unless there is a strong aversion to the suitor. In such a case, try to convince your parents to accept the one you desire if he is religious and has good character. If your parents do not agree, you are not permitted to marry the man you have chosen except with your father's consent, due to the Prophet's saying, "There is no marriage except with a guardian." If there is another suitor whom the family has approved, it is not permissible for anyone to propose to her until that engagement is dissolved.
