Is the wife obliged to abandon her postgraduate studies and join her emigrant husband, or is it permissible for her to remain to complete her studies that she began three years ago?

It is obligatory for the wife to move with her husband wherever he wishes, unless there is harm [in doing so], or she stipulated at the time of marriage that she would not move. It is not permissible to reside in the lands of disbelief (Dar al-Kufr) except under certain conditions, among them: that the resident be a person of faith and knowledge, able to openly practice their rituals, and safe regarding themselves and their family. It is advisable to discuss with the husband the issue of studying and the possibility of completing it in a way that does not harm him.
