What is the ruling on covering at work (24 hours), such as one person being present in place of another, and preparing the other for any reason?
The employee is a special hire, and his services are owned by the employer during working hours. Therefore, he must adhere to the full working hours, and it is not permissible to be absent or leave before the end of the shift except as permitted by the regulations. An employee's signing in for an absent colleague is forbidden. It has been stated in the fatwas of the Permanent Committee that the employee must be present at the workplace throughout working hours, even if he has no work, and it is not permissible for him to leave except for a necessary matter allowed by the regulations. It is also not permissible to falsify official attendance and departure records when they are incorrect.
