Where is Bilad al-Sham located at the present time?

The Levant (present-day Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Jordan) is among the best of God's lands, and many hadiths have been narrated concerning its virtues. Its honor is sufficiently established by the presence of Al-Aqsa Mosque, to which Allah transported His Prophet (peace be upon him) on his night journey, and which was the first Qiblah of the Muslims. It is also the third of the mosques to which journeys are undertaken specifically for worship.
