What is the meaning of the Almighty's saying: "Your women are a tilth for you, so approach your tilth from wherever you will, and put forth [something good] for yourselves, and fear Allah and know that you will meet Him. And give good tidings to the believers"? And is it understood from this that anal intercourse with one's wife is forbidden? And is what members of Hizb ut-Tahrir say, that anal intercourse with a non-mahram woman is not considered fornication, correct?

"The interpretation of the verse and the ruling on anal intercourse with one's wife have been provided in previous fatwas. What has been attributed to Hizb ut-Tahrir, that anal intercourse with an unrelated woman is not fornication (zina), is incorrect. Muslims are unanimous that it is fornication, but they differed on whether the prescribed punishment (hadd) should be applied for it or not. The majority of scholars hold that the hadd punishment for zina should be applied to anyone who engages in anal intercourse with an unrelated woman. The Hanbalis, Malikis, and Shafi'is have defined zina in a way that includes anal intercourse. Whereas the Hanafis defined zina with both a more general and a more specific definition; the general one includes what necessitates hadd and what does not, and the specific one is what necessitates hadd. Their statement in the definition 'in the vagina' does not mean that anal intercourse is not zina; rather, they mean that the hadd punishment for zina is not applied for it, while acknowledging that it is indeed zina."
