The answer

A woman should not seek divorce for trivial reasons, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Any woman who asks her husband for divorce without a sound reason, the scent of Paradise will be forbidden to her." Divorce should only be resorted to when the continuation of marital life becomes impossible. What transpired between the spouses is not considered a divorce unless the husband explicitly utters the word of divorce. If he divorced her before consummation, it is an irrevocable divorce (talaq bain), and a new contract is required if he wishes to take her back.
