The answer

If a wife patiently endures her husband's abuse for the sake of her children's welfare, there is no sin upon her, and she will be rewarded for it. The wife has the right to choose to separate from her husband if his harm to her is proven, but she is not obligated to do so. It is stated in Al-Kharashi's commentary on Mukhtasar Khalil: "If it is proven by evidence before the judge that the husband harms his wife while she is under his marital bond, even if the harm occurred only once, it is well-known that the wife is given the option. If she wishes, she may remain in this state, and if she wishes, she may divorce herself."
