What is the ruling if a man says to his wife: "You are divorced if you enter your aunt's house or if you uncover yourself to someone whom I have covered you from," and is this considered a single divorce, and does the covering fall away and the oath end if she enters her aunt's house, or does the oath remain suspended?

Scholars have differed regarding conditional divorce: does it occur if the condition is met, or not? The majority opinion is that it does occur. Others have said that the matter depends on the intention; if you intended merely prevention, then you owe an expiation for an oath (kaffarat yamin), but if you intended divorce, then it occurs.

If you intended an oath, then you only owe the expiation. If you intended divorce, then one divorce occurred upon your wife entering her aunt's house, and your oath is dissolved thereby because it was conditional on one of two matters, and one of them has occurred. The connection with "or" means that the divorce occurs with each one individually.
