Can a vision that is a result of one's inner thoughts be a true vision, different from the classification of visions in the Prophet's hadith? And does a true vision appear exactly as it is in reality, and does it foretell both good and evil?

Dreams are of three types: glad tidings from Allah, from Satan, and from self-talk. That which comes from self-talk is nothing significant, but it may combine with a [true] dream, in which case the interpretation is for the [true] dream. A true dream does not necessarily have to materialize exactly as it was seen; rather, its interpretation occurs, as in the dreams of Yusuf (Joseph) and the king. A true dream is not limited to what the dreamer likes; rather, one may see what is disliked as a warning, such as Abraham slaughtering his son Ishmael, and the Prophet, peace be upon him, seeing cows being slaughtered.
