How can a wife defend herself against an abusive husband who verbally abuses her, treats her poorly, and withholds her rights? And would Allah be angry with her if she expelled him from the house with the help of the police after he tried to expel her and her children?

A husband who curses his wife and treats her poorly is considered an oppressor and disobedient to Islamic law. Some jurists have permitted the wife to reciprocate in kind, without exceeding limits, but it is better to offer advice and remind him of Allah, and to seek help from some virtuous people. Housing is a right for the wife and children as long as they are young. If the house is owned by the husband, the wife does not have the right to expel him. However, if it is her property, she can prevent him from residing in it. The wife has rights over her husband that are not limited to food and drink, and reconciliation is better between spouses to avoid the disintegration of the family.
