And is the husband obligated to provide a maid for a wife who was accustomed to having one in her parents' home?

Maintenance is obligatory for the wife upon her husband and includes food, drink, clothing, and housing. In detail, some jurists have expanded maintenance to include what the woman needs for cleaning and removing dirt, such as a comb, oil, sidr (lote tree leaves), and soap, and what she needs to eliminate unpleasant odors. However, they differed on whether it includes perfume, kohl, henna, and the like. Some of them hold that he is not obligated to provide these unless he wants her to adorn herself with them or to eliminate a bad odor.

As for a maidservant, if the wife is accustomed to not serving herself, then the husband is obligated to provide her with a maidservant, because this is part of living together honorably. It is not permissible for the husband to refrain from doing so under the pretext of saving money for the future or helping the poor, because spending on one's family yields a greater reward from Allah, as indicated by the prophetic hadiths.
