How sound is the supplication: “O Allah, verily You have enabled some of Your creation to practice magic and evil, but You have reserved to Yourself the power to cause harm. So I seek refuge with what You have reserved to Yourself from that which You have enabled them to do, by the truth of Your saying, ‘And they cannot harm anyone thereby except by permission of Allah’”? Does it ward off magic from a person, and what are the invocations that protect against magic?

This supplication was not reported from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, but there is no harm in supplicating with it for protection against magic, as it does not contain anything that contravenes the Sharia. It includes seeking refuge with one of Allah Almighty's attributes, and we hope it will be a means of cure or prevention. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Present your incantations to me. There is no harm in incantations as long as they do not contain polytheism."
