What is the ruling on seeking the help of jinn to identify the evil eye or sorcery, and on believing a jinn possessing a patient in its claims of sorcery and the evil eye and acting upon its words?

It is not permissible to seek the help of jinn to determine the type of affliction or its cure, because it is polytheism (shirk), as stated in the verses: "And indeed, there were men among mankind who took refuge in men among the jinn, so they increased them in burden" and "And [mention] the Day He will gather them all together, [and say], 'O company of jinn, you have exploited many of mankind.' And their allies among mankind will say, 'Our Lord, some of us benefited from others, and we have reached our term, which you appointed for us.' He will say, 'The Fire is your residence, wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allah wills. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing.'" This 'benefiting' includes mankind glorifying jinn and jinn serving them by informing them of what mankind does not know, and they may lie.
