Does one who regularly recites the prescribed remembrances (adhkar) fear the evil eye, and is this considered a lack of trust in God's protection? And does admiring something alert the jinn? And should one request people to say "Masha'Allah," or is it sufficient to rely on remembrance (dhikr) and the prescribed invocations (wird)?

The evil eye is real, and a Muslim must guard against its harm by taking precautions. Fearing the evil eye and seeking protection from it is a good thing and does not contradict reliance on Allah; rather, it is a part of perfect reliance. However, this fear should not reach the point of obsessive doubt. Among the means of protection from the evil eye is saying "Masha'Allah" (as Allah willed) upon seeing something that pleases a person, and this does not contradict trust in Allah and reliance upon Him.
