Is it from Allah's generosity to raise the status of children in Paradise to the level of their fathers who are higher than them, and does this apply to the children and grandchildren of the Companions all the way down to our generation, and what is the effect of that on striving in good deeds?

The interpretation of the Almighty's saying: (And those who believed and whose offspring followed them in faith — We will join their offspring with them, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person is a pledge for what he earned.) [At-Tur/21]. Commentators have differed on the term "offspring" (الذرية), whether it refers to minors or adults.

The most probable interpretation is that "offspring" here refers to minors, so as not to necessitate the equality of those who come later with those who preceded them in ranks. Thus, children are joined with their parents in the ranks of Paradise. As for adults who have married and become independent, they are independent in their ranks and are not joined with their parents. This elevation of minor offspring does not diminish anything from the parents' deeds.
