Is a husband entitled to divorce his wife because she is not from the tribe of Ashraf (descendants of the Prophet) as her mother claimed before the marriage, bearing in mind that he has already consummated the marriage with her and she has not borne him any children?

We do not advise divorcing this woman merely due to matters of lineage and ancestry, because superiority in the sight of Allah Almighty is based on faith and righteous deeds, as Allah Almighty says: "Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you," and as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for a white person over a black person, except by piety." The Sacred Law has encouraged retaining a woman even if one dislikes her, especially if she is upright, as Allah Almighty said: "And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good." If, after that, your soul is not content to remain with her, then there is no blame upon you in divorcing her, provided you fulfill all her rights.
