The question

Is what the questioner feels—of permanent depression, doors of this world being closed off, a sense of unhappiness, lack of devotion in prayer and reading the Quran, and isolation from people—a touch from the Jinn or a wrath from God?

The answer

We advise you to seek Allah Almighty's help and earnestly implore Him to relieve you and rectify your affairs. Increase in acts of obedience, maintain prayer and remembrance (dhikr), avoid isolation and solitude by mixing with people, and strive to find a righteous husband who is pleasing in religion and character. This can be achieved through supplication and by presenting yourself to someone you approve of through your guardian. Persist in reciting the supplication for distress: "O Allah, Your mercy I hope for, so do not abandon me to myself for the blink of an eye, and rectify all my affairs; there is no god but You," and the supplication of Yunus (Jonah) and the Greatest Name (al-Ism al-A'dham).
