Is a young man who suffers from bad breath and avoids marriage and social interaction because of it considered afflicted, and does the حديث "When Allah loves a people, He afflicts them" apply to him, and will he be rewarded for his patience? Is it permissible for him to forgo marriage to avoid wronging his future wife, and what is the ruling on his practicing masturbation and watching films to quench his desires? What should he do regarding people accusing him of arrogance and his colleagues at work slandering him, and will he be rewarded for that? Is he sinful for not moving his lips during prayer for fear of disturbing other worshippers?

Turn to Allah with sincere supplication, and emulate Ayyub (Job), peace be upon him. So, supplicate and do not despair, and pay no mind to the mockery of colleagues. Know that for every ailment there is a cure. We advise you to use the siwak frequently, to be diligent in consuming wholesome food and avoiding harmful food, and to consult doctors. Regarding marriage, you are not required to inform the woman of your ailment, especially since the majority of scholars hold that bad breath is not a defect that grants the option of annulment. Regarding prayer, it is not permissible to miss congregational prayer except for an excuse, and an odor that harms the worshippers permits missing it. Reciting during prayer without moving the lips and tongue is not sufficient. Maintaining kinship ties is obligatory through various means such as visiting, calling, and showing kindness. If visiting is not possible, use other means.
