The answer

Allah has obligated fulfilling contracts, and marriage contracts are the foremost among them. The wife must fulfill the condition of serving and caring for the husband's father. She does not have the right to demand a division of labor with the second wife because she did not stipulate that. She has the right to a separate dwelling unless it was stipulated to her before the contract that she care for the husband's father in his home and that there would be no separate dwelling, in which case she must fulfill both conditions. If the wife cannot bear the situation, she has the right to request khul'. We advise the husband to fear Allah regarding his first wife and reward her with kindness. It would have been more appropriate for him to stipulate to the second wife what he stipulated to the first, in order to be fair and wise.
