Who is Sheikh Abdul Hamid Kishk?

Sheikh Abd al-Hamid Kishk was a renowned preacher, orator, and Imam, born in 1933 CE in Shubra Khit, Egypt. He lost his sight at the age of seventeen. He memorized the Holy Quran and joined Al-Azhar, graduating with distinction. He was appointed an Imam and orator by the Ministry of Awqaf, and he transformed his mosque into a center for worship, education, and upbringing. He was imprisoned several times for speaking truth, his refusal to issue fatwas that pleased politicians, and he was banned from returning to his mosque after his last imprisonment in 1982 CE. He was distinguished by his sarcastic and eloquent style, his asceticism, and his courage in upholding the truth. He has numerous written works and audio recordings. He was criticized for including weak and fabricated hadiths. He passed away in 1996 CE while in prostration.
