Is it obligatory to search for another mosque for Friday Prayer given the strong presumption that none exists, or is it permissible to pray Dhuhr if one wakes up late and presumes that the Friday Prayer in the village mosques has been missed?

Whoever is obligated to attend the Friday prayer must hasten to it upon the call (to prayer), for Allah the Almighty says: "O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Friday, then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade." If one is delayed due to an excuse, there is no sin upon him. And if one predominantly believes that he will not be able to catch the Friday prayer in any mosque, then he may pray Dhuhr, for predominant belief takes the place of certainty. Some scholars have even gone to the extent of permitting praying Dhuhr at the beginning of its time for whoever predominantly believes that the people of the town will not establish the Friday prayer.

It is forbidden to travel on Friday after Zawwal (midday) for whoever is obligated to attend the Friday prayer, unless one predominantly believes he will be able to catch it, in which case it is permissible, because in this situation, predominant belief takes the place of knowledge and certainty.
