Is the widespread message that begins with: "O عبد الله (Abdullah)! If you rise at night and do not perform ablution (wudu) and do not pray, then you have betrayed My trust; and if you perform ablution, pray, and supplicate to Me, but I do not respond to you, then I have betrayed My trust," a Qudsi Hadith, and what is the extent of its authenticity?

This statement has no basis in religion and is false. It is not permissible to describe Allah as betraying a trust. Whoever wakes up at night and does not perform ablution (wudu') or pray (salat) incurs no sin, even though it is recommended to perform ablution and pray. Imam al-Bukhari's hadith from 'Ubada ibn al-Samit indicates that whoever wakes up at night, remembers Allah, and supplicates, will have their supplication answered, even if they do not perform ablution or pray. How then can it be said that they have betrayed a trust?
